Mercy Medical Oncologist Dr. Sandy D. Kotiah, Named Castle Connolly "Top Doctor"

Mercy Medical Center has announced that Sandy D. Kotiah, M.D., Director, The Neuroendocrine Tumor Center at Mercy, has been recognized by Castle Connolly Medical Ltd. as a "Top Doctor” for 2017. Dr. Kotiah was also so honored in 2016.

The national selection process for Castle Connolly's "Top Doctors" is based on both peer nomination and extensive review by a physician-led research team. Medical training, board certifications, achievements, and other credentials are also measured during the annual selection process.

Board Certified in Medical Oncology and Hematology, Dr. Kotiah leads a multidisciplinary team focused on providing some of the best treatment options for rare neuroendocrine diseases. Dr. Kotiah works with patients to diagnose, evaluate and treat a variety of cancers and blood diseases including neuroendocrine tumors, breast cancer, colon and rectal cancer, gynecological cancer, lung cancer, leukemia and lymphoma. 

Dr. Kotiah has specialized training and certification in performing bone marrow biopsies and administering intrathecal chemotherapy. A lecturer and researcher on neuroendocrine tumors as well as a physician, Dr. Kotiah hosts quarterly meetings for patients and their families to present information about neuroendocrine tumors and how to cope with a neuroendocrine diagnosis.

Dr. Kotiah, who is fluent in both French and Creole, has been recognized with a “Patients' Choice Award,” presented on behalf of patient feedback and in recognition of Dr. Kotiah’s compassionate care and bedside manner.
