Hospital Amenities

Chapel

Mercy's Chapels are open to people of all faiths for prayer, meditation and quiet solitude. Mercy Chaplains are especially gifted in caring for the sick and those in need of their comfort.

  • Chapel of Light in The Bunting Center, Main Lobby
    • Open 6:00 am - 8:30 pm
  • McAuley Chapel in McAuley Plaza (Main Chapel for Religious Ceremonies)
    • Open 6:00 am - 8:30 pm. Mass – Weekdays 6:25 am and noon, Saturdays and Sundays 6:25 am
    • Services can be viewed on the in-house television station in the patient's room. (Bunting, Channel 75, McAuley and Weinberg, Channel 40). 
    • Holy Communion is available to patients upon request.
  • Jewish Resources: Shabbat and holiday prayer books, as well as ritual items, available by request. Kosher Menu available through your care team.
  • Muslim Resources: Prayer Rugs are available by request.
  • Bibles: New American Catholic Bibles available by request. New King James Bibles available by request.

Corcoran Café

The Bunting Center, Main Lobby 
Open 7 days a week, 6:30 am – 8:00 pm; 12:00 am – 2:00 am
Serving brick oven pizzas, calzones, deli sandwiches and subs, soups, salads, hot entrees, sushi and more.

The Bistro

McAuley Tower, 6th Floor
Open Monday – Friday, 6:30 am – 3:00 pm
Serving entrees and sides, burgers, cheese steaks, hot subs, fried foods, soups, salads, sushi and Asian cuisine.

The Coffee Kiosk

McAuley Plaza, Main Lobby
Open Monday – Friday, 6:30 am – 2:00 pm     
Serving gourmet coffee, sandwiches, fruit cups, cold beverages, yogurts, desserts and snacks.

Baggot Street Café

The Weinberg Center, Main Lobby
Open Monday – Friday, 6:30 am - 2:00 pm 
Serving Starbucks Coffee, sandwiches, salads, paninis, cold beverages, yogurts, desserts, soups and snacks.

Mercy is also neighbor to 5-star restaurants, quaint cafés, coffee shops and bistros offering a wide selection of dishes including local seafood specialties, international cuisine and traditional American favorites. Many of these restaurants are within a 10-minute walk from the hospital.

Gift Shops

Gift Shops are located in the Lobbies of The Bunting Center and McAuley Plaza.
Hours:  7:30 am – 9:00 pm, Monday – Friday; 9:00 am – 8:00 pm, Saturday & Sunday

Parking

  • Valet Service: Mercy's valet parking service is available on St. Paul Place in three areas: the entrance of the Main Hospital/Bunting Center, the entrance of McAuley Plaza and the entrance of The Weinberg Center. Fees apply.
  • Self-Park: Mercy offers convenient parking in for all patients and visitors. Hourly fees apply. All three Mercy garages are connected to the buildings on campus.

Pharmacy

Outpatient pharmacy prescriptions can be filled at Walgreens Pharmacy, inside the lobby of McAuley Plaza. The pharmacy is open Monday through Saturday. You can reach Walgreens Pharmacy at Mercy by calling 410-625-2618 or you can have your prescription faxed to 410-625-6213.

Phone and TV Services

Phone and TV services can be accessed once you arrive in your patient room. Patients will enjoy a number of interactive services throughout their stay using Mercy’s GetWellNetwork multi-media system. Patients can enjoy programming on flat screen televisions, browse the Internet, view religious services from the Mercy’s McAuley Chapel and even call a nurse for assistance. There's also an education channel where patients can learn more about many medical procedures and conditions.

Reading Materials

Mercy Volunteers visit patient rooms with a magazine and book cart for patients to select their preferred reading material.

Smoke Free Campus

In an effort to create a healthier environment for our patients, staff and visitors, Mercy’s downtown campus is a smoke free campus effective May 1, 2014.

Community Outreach

Mercy Medical Center of Baltimore, Maryland, is committed to sharing God’s healing love for all people. Our doctors, nurses and staff work together with local charities and organizations to serve those in need by providing excellent clinical care and residential services within a community of compassionate care. Additional Services

Online Services

Mercy provides a number of convenient online services for patients:

  • Patient Access - providing inpatients with secure online access to information on their diagnosis, medications, hospital stay and discharge instructions.
  • MyChart - a secure online portal allowing outpatients to request appointments and prescription refills as well as view test results and personal health information.
  • Online Bill Pay - allowing patients to pay hospital bills through Mercy's online business office. 

Financial Counseling

Mercy offers patients financial assistance for those who are uninsured and ineligible for federal medical assistance. Payment plans are available and/or a patient can be put on a sliding scale which would allow a percentage of assistance depending on their eligibility under current guidelines. Interpreter Services

Mercy offers, free of charge, interpreter services to patients and their family members. Among them, Deaf Talk, a telephonic and computer device which provides the patient with a view of the interpreter through a computer screen.

Pastoral Care

Mercy's Pastoral Care services are available to all patients. The staff of professional Chaplains provide counseling services to anyone experiencing difficulties in coping with personal or family issues such as illness, depression, stress, substance abuse, and loss including bereavement, divorce and job loss. Pastoral Care provides opportunities for individual and community prayer and is sensitive to all faith traditions. A patient’s own priest, pastor, minister, rabbi, imam or other spiritual leader is always welcome.

Social Work

Links patients with community resources. Social workers handle discharge planning and counseling for patients having difficulty with illnesses and planning.

TTY

Enables hearing/speech impaired persons to communicate by telephone through the use of a typewriter-type device. The relay operator communicates by teletype with the hearing/speech impaired person and relays the information to the other caller verbally.

Visiting Hours

General visiting hours are between 11am and 8:30pm, however, hours vary by floor so please check with the nursing staff or our front desk staff at 410-332-9555.

Admitting

The Patient Access Department is responsible for providing patients and visitors with their first impression of the hospital. The Department handles a variety of requests from physicians, nurses, patients and other hospital staff and has staff located in areas throughout the hospital for your convenience. 

Patient Billing

Contact Mercy’s Patient Billing Department should you have any questions or concerns related to the billing of services received at Mercy.

Pre-Admission Testing

Pre-Admission Testing (PAT) handles all testing done prior to scheduled procedures, including surgery, or scheduled admissions to the hospital.

The McGlannan Health Sciences & Consumer Health Information Center

The McGlannan Health Sciences & Consumer Health Information Center is located on the south end of The Weinberg Center at Mercy. The area serves as a health resource library for faculty, students and the general public through a variety of books, periodicals and online services. A number of internet-ready computers are also available for use.

Medical Records

Mercy's Medical Records Department handles the hospital’s medical records. For a copy of a birth certificate, contact The Maryland State Division Vital Statistics Administration at 410-764-3038 or visit their website.

Patient Relations

Mercy’s Patient Relations staff is responsible for your overall experience, safety and satisfaction while visiting the hospital.

Scheduling Center

Mercy’s Scheduling Center assists patients in scheduling surgeries and ancillary tests and includes an Insurance Verification Team who obtain authorizations for related services.

Security

Mercy’s Security Department is on duty 24-hours a day, 365-days a year and is committed to providing patients, staff and visitors with a safe and secure environment. The department provides a range of services including ID badge access and escorts to and from Mercy parking facilities.
