Debra A. Vachon, M.D.
Colon-Rectal surgeon Debra A. Vachon, M.D., is Director of the
Colon and Rectal Center at Mercy. Board certified in both general
surgery and colon-rectal surgery, Dr. Vachon received her medical
degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine. A Fellow
of the American College of Surgeons and the American Society of
Colon and Rectal Surgeons, Dr. Vachon sees patients at Mercy Medical
Center in downtown Baltimore and in private practice at McDonogh
Crossroads in Owings Mills, MD. Dr. Vachon is a member of the
Colon Rectal Surgical Associates.
Dr. Vachon has made numerous presentations in her field and related medical
fields (e.g. the Delorme procedure for complete rectal prolapse
in severely debilitated patients; management of inflammatory carcinoma
of the breast; surgical complications in children with HIV infections).
Michael E. Cox, M.D.
Michael E. Cox, M.D., is a gastroenterologist and Assistant Chief
of Gastroenterology at Mercy.
A graduate of the University of Maryland Medical School, Dr.
Cox and has earned certifications in both gastroenterology and
internal medicine. His research interests are endoscopic laser
surgery and Hepatitis C. He has been a clinical assistant professor
of medicine at the University of Maryland since 1981 and was the
first medical director of the Maryland Endoscopy Center. He conceived
and developed the state's largest outpatient Endoscopy Center,
combining 13 physicians, Mercy Medical Center and Helix Health
Care, with over 4,000 procedures performed in one year.
Dr. Cox is a member of the American Gastroenterology Association,
the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and the Maryland
Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, serving as president of
the latter from 1997 through 1999. His fellowships include the
American College of Gastroenterology (FACG) and the American College
of Physicians (FACP). He has authored numerous papers and publications
in his field.
David B. Posner, M.D.
David B. Posner, M.D., is a gastroenterologist and Chief of Gastroenterology
at Mercy (since 1979). A graduate of the University of Maryland
School of Medicine and a Fellow in Gastroenterology at the University,
Dr. Posner certifications from the American Board of Internal
Medicine and in the Subspecialty of Gastroenterology. Fellow of
the American College of Physician, he holds membership in the
American Gastroenterological Society, the American Society for
Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the American Association for the Study
of Liver Diseases, the Baltimore City Medical Society, and other
medical-related associations.
In terms of teaching posts, Dr. Posner has served in a teaching
capacity for the past 20 years, G.I. Division, University of Maryland
and Baltimore V.A. Hospital, and as Attending Physician at Mercy
Medical Center, teaching residents in medicine and surgery. He
received the Outstanding Physician-Teacher Award for his efforts
in 1982. He has authored numerous abstracts and publications in
his field.
Scott Huber, M.D.
Scott Huber, M.D., is board certified in internal medicine and
specializes in gastroenterology.Dr. Huber completed his fellowship
in gastroenterology at Brown University and Rhode Island Hospital.
He earned his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh
School of Medicine in 1995, completing his residency in internal
medicine through the University of Maryland Medical System in
1998. Dr. Huber has conducted research in the field of gastroenterology
at Brown University and Johns Hopkins University.
Jonathan Schreiber, M.D.
Dr. Jonathan Schreiber earned his medical degree in 1982 from
the University of Maryland School of Medicine and completed his
Fellowship in Gastroenterology in 1987 at the University of Maryland
Hospital. Prior to coming to Mercy, Dr. Schreiber was an Assistant
Professor of Medicine at the University of Maryland Hospital.
He earned his board certification in Gastroenterology in 1987.
He is Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University
of Maryland School of Medicine and holds numerous professional
memberships including the American Gastroenterological Association,
the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and the American
College of Gastroenterology. He has spoken on such topics as upper
gastrointestinal tract bleeding, peptic ulcer disease and drug
therapy for inflammatory bowel disease. He has numerous medical
abstracts to his credit.
Patrick Hyatt, M.D.
Patrick Hyatt, M.D., earned his medical degree at the Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine and his fellowship in Gastroenterology at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island.
Dr. Hyatt is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and is Board-eligible in Gastroenterology. He has numerous clinical presentations and medical publications to his credit, addressing disorders of the GI tract as well as treatments such as chemoprevention of colon cancer.
Dr. Hyatt is a member of the American Gastroenterological Association, the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and the American College of Gastroenterology.
