Mercy Medical Center Earns National And High Performing Rankings By U.S. News And World Report "Top Hospitals" Edition

U.S. News & World Report released its 2012-13 rankings for the nation’s best hospitals and Mercy Medical Center achieved remarkable results.

*Mercy was named the 3rd best hospital in Maryland, behind only the academic medical centers at Hopkins and University…meaning Mercy is the top-ranked community hospital in the state.

*Mercy was one of only five of Maryland’s hospitals to achieve a National Ranking for specialty care. We achieved national ranking in Orthopedics (30), Gynecology (36) and Geriatric care (34).

*Mercy was also named a High Performing Hospital in seven other areas including: Cancer, Gastroenterology, Neurology & Neurosurgery, Urology, Diabetes & Endocrinology, Nephrology and Pulmonology.

This latest recognition caps an incredible fiscal year of accomplishments for Mercy. In addition to this national honor, Mercy also achieved Magnet Recognition for Nursing Excellence…was awarded the “2012 Women’s Choice Award” as one of America’s Best 100 Hospitals for Patient Experience...was selected as one of the Top 25 Places to work by Baltimore Magazine…received its 19th award for excellence in design and community impact related to the opening of the new Mary Catherine Bunting Center… was recently named One of the Top 100 Hospitals in the Nation by Thomson Reuters…and opened the new Family Childbirth and Children’s Center this past June in Mercy’s new state of the art Bunting Center, the 20 story, $400+ million inpatient medical facility featuring three rooftop gardens and innovative medical technologies.
