About Peyronies Disease
Peyronies disease affects a man’s penis and causes curved, painful erections. While having a curved erection is common for some men, this illness, created by fibrous scar tissue inside the organ, causes a severe bend which is painful and prevents sexual relations.
Symptoms & Diagnosis

Typical signs of Peyronies disease are:

  • An alarming bend in the penis
  • Shortened penis
  • Problems with erections
  • Painful erections
  • Scar tissue under the skin of the penis

These symptoms may develop gradually or come on suddenly. A family history of the disease can cause the problem and the potential for getting the disease increases with age. Men with connective tissue conditions are also susceptible to this disease.

As with any medical condition, a thorough physical exam is the first step in diagnosing Peyronies disease. Our doctors will examine the penis and search for common symptoms of the disease. An ultrasound or X-ray of the penis may also be conducted.

Treatment Options for Peyronies Disease

If the irregularities of the penis are detected early, our doctors may simply monitor the condition. If the condition is advanced, treatment options may include:

  • Oral Medication
  • Direct medical injection into the penis
  • Surgery to shorten or lengthen the penis
  • Surgical implants
