Endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty, also called ESG, is a non-surgical weight loss procedure that uses an endoscope to reduce the size of the stomach. The endoscope is inserted into the throat to access the stomach. No external cuts or stitches are needed to complete the procedure.
The doctor uses the endoscope to make a series of small folds along the stomach, which is why the procedure is sometimes referred to as the “accordion procedure.” The new stomach shape resembles a banana and is held in place with tiny sutures.
Endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty makes changes to your digestive system to help you lose weight by:
- Reducing the size of your stomach and the amount of food you can eat
- Causing hormonal changes that lower your appetite and
- Reducing the amount of food absorbed by your body
ESG currently is not covered by insurance. If you are interested in learning about the cost of ESG, please contact us. We do not offer payment plans at this time.
