What is Custom Footwear?

Custom footwear refers to custom-made, corrective footwear designed for comfort that fits today’s contemporary lifestyles.
Foot orthoses, sometimes called orthotic devices, are custom-made shoe inserts that are prescribed for people with chronic foot or leg pain. Foot orthoses work by:

  • Correcting bony alignment
  • Supporting the arch
  • Distributing weight over the foot
  • Providing shock absorption

Foot orthoses are made of a variety of materials – some are rigid and others are soft. They can also be made with a combination of materials.
