An arm lift, also called brachioplasty, is a cosmetic procedure used to remove hanging loose skin of the inner portion of the upper arm from the elbow to the shoulder. The arm lift will help diminish the unattractive fat and loose skin of the upper arm that prohibits many from wearing short sleeves or tank tops. The arm lift helps to firm and reshape the upper arm.

Our plastic surgeons at Cosmetic Medicine and Surgery at Mercy recommend an arm lift for patients:
An arm lift procedure generally takes two hours. The surgeon will create an incision, from the elbow past the armpit. If there is an extreme amount of excess skin and fat deposits, the surgeon may need to extend the incision from the wrist to the armpit. If there are large amounts of fat, liposuction may be used.
Recovery from an arm lift typically takes approximately a week to ten days. An arm lift patient may encounter soreness, tightness, tenderness, bruising and swelling, as they go through the healing process.
We are dedicated to helping patients find the best cosmetic procedure options available to help restore and renew their self-image. If you are interested in a cosmetic procedure, our doctors will work with you to help you feel beautiful at any age and any stage of life. Please call 410-332-9700.
