COVID-19 Rapid Response Fund

Mercy Baltimore

During these difficult and unprecedented times, our health care workers and staff are on the front lines, 24 hours per day. Mercy Health Services is doing everything we can to take care of our patients and staff, around the clock. We are also thinking ahead, activating a major capital investment to assure we are equipped to take care of patients who contract COVID-19 and other critical illnesses in the near future.

On Monday, March 16, 2020, Maryland Governor Larry Hogan stressed the need for hospitals across the state to increase bed capacity, with confirmed cases of COVID-19 on the rise, at a rapid pace. Mercy was the first hospital in Baltimore to seek and receive an Emergency Certificate of Need from the Maryland Health Care Commission. As a result, we are immediately embarking on construction of a new 32-bed acute/critical care unit, to be located on the 17th floor of The Mary Catherine Bunting Center. The construction plan is expedited, and will be completed within 75 days.

Please consider making a gift to Mercy Health Services’ COVID-19 Rapid Response Fund to support us during this time of uncertainty, that also carries an evolving and growing need for increased access to care.
