If you have time during the week which you would like to fill with a worthwhile experience, Mercy Medical Center’s Volunteer Department may have something for you.

Mercy Medical Center volunteers are a dedicated, caring and diverse group of individuals who offer their time and talents in a manner that reflects the hospital’s mission and values of the Sisters of Mercy

Volunteers are represented throughout Mercy’s Downtown Campus and Community Physician Sites in Overlea and Glen Burnie.

Why Volunteer?

At Mercy, the benefits of volunteering are numerous and include:

Volunteers are offered flexible schedules including day, evening and weekend hours. In appreciation, Mercy offers a daily meal stipend and free, secure on-campus garage parking. Volunteers also have access to health care career information, free CPR classes, and free annual influenza vaccines.

What Volunteer Opportunities are Available?

Mercy volunteers play an essential role in contributing to the well being of patients and family members. Our volunteer assignments are matched to engaged and invested individuals with a desire to advance or contribute their skills and interests.

Volunteers are currently assisting in over 30 departments throughout the Mercy Health System, including:

How to Become a Volunteer

The first step is to review our requirements which include:

  • Must be 16 years of age or older
  • Must agree to a background check
  • Must provide basic health information
  • Must be able to commit to 4 hours per week for 6 consecutive months
  • Must attend orientation and training
  • Must complete an application and orientation packet
