Vincent D. Sexton, Jr.
To Honor and Remember
Vincent D. Sexton, Jr. dedicates his support of Mercy to the memory of his grandparents. August Kostal was born near Prague in 1880. August’s father brought him to Baltimore in 1892 where he became an American citizen. In 1908, August married Marie Musil in Baltimore. August worked as a tailor his entire life, including at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis. His daughter, Mildred, married Vincent Sexton, Sr., in Baltimore in June, 1944. Their son, Vincent, Jr., was born at Mercy on December 20, 1945. Both father and son received care at Mercy, including several successful surgeries. August Kostal passed away in 1959 and his wife, Marie, passed away in 1974. The Sisters of Mercy join Vincent, Jr. in honoring and remembering his grandparents.
“My Catholic upbringing and education instilled in me the desire to leave something behind that would make a difference in people’s lives. Through three generations, from my grandparents, to my parents, to me, Mercy has always been there to take care of our family and ease our suffering and pain. By including Mercy in my estate plans, I know that I am making a difference and helping people in the Baltimore area for generations to come.”
