Heat It to Beat It
About This Event
Heat It To Beat It is a walk to raise awareness and funds for peritoneal carcinomatosis research and education. Peritoneal carcinomatosis (PC) is a common and complex presentation of a variety of cancers of the abdominal cavity. This cancer can originate from tumors of the appendix, colon, rectum, ovary, stomach, and small bowel, and from primary peritoneal tumors and mesothelioma.
Since its inception in 2010, Heat It To Beat It has raised over $870,000 to support research led by Dr. Armando Sardi, Director of the Institute for Cancer Care at Mercy Medical Center. Dr. Sardi and his colleague, Dr. Vadim Gushchin, are among the few surgical oncologists in the world who are experts in the treatment of peritoneal carcinomatosis and HIPEC treatment.
Proceeds from Heat It To Beat It support research conducted by Drs. Sardi and Gushchin and their colleagues at Mercy, whose work helps to provide scientifically proven treatments for patients with peritoneal carcinomatosis world-wide.
