Rare Uterine Cancer, Leiomyosarcoma, Diagnosed and Treated at Mercy
When rare female reproductive tract cancers are suspected or abnormal pain cannot seem to be properly diagnosed, it is important to choose the best doctors who have the knowledge, skill, and expertise to recognize and treat rare gynecologic cancers, such as leiomyosarcoma. At The Gynecologic Oncology Center at Mercy, our doctors are dedicated to treating all female reproductive tract cancers, including uterine cancers (endometrial and leiomyosarcoma) as well as ovarian, cervical, vulvar, and vaginal cancers. Women from Baltimore and across the Mid-Atlantic region rely on the expertise of The Gynecologic Oncology Center at Mercy.
The symptoms of leiomyosarcoma are similar to other conditions making it hard to diagnose. Often leiomyosarcoma is not diagnosed officially until surgery is performed. It is important to see a doctor who specializes in female reproductive tract cancers should any of the following symptoms occur:
- Abnormal bleeding
- Bleeding after menopause
- Lump in the vagina
- Pain in the abdomen or pelvis
- Frequent urination
