What is Vascular Bypass Surgery?
Vascular bypass surgery redirects blood flow through another blood vessel to avert the artery or vein that is damaged or blocked. The blood vessel used to bypass an area may be a natural vein or artery from another part of the body or one that is man-made. It is usually done for severe peripheral arterial disease (PAD) such as disabling leg pain or gangrene.
Types of Vascular Bypass Surgery procedures

- Aortobifemoral bypass – for surgery to the major abdominal artery and those that branch off from it.
