Dr. David N. Maine, President and CEO of Mercy Health Services (MHS), Mercy Medical Center, has been included on The Daily Record’s Power 30 Health Care List, as chosen by the publication’s editorial team.

In an online statement, Daily Record editor Thomas Baden, Jr., notes “The pandemic has challenged the resourcefulness, skill and compassion of health care professionals…The men and women leading our health care institutions, as well as key policymakers and advocates, have risen to this challenge. They are the 30 individuals you will meet in…The Daily Record’s inaugural Power 30 Health Care List.”

Dr. Maine was appointed Mercy president and CEO in 2020, becoming the first physician to lead the hospital and health system in its 146-year history.

Dr. Maine, who previously served as Executive Vice President for MHS since October 2019, is responsible for all MHS operations, overseeing the Medical Center, specialty and primary care physician networks, and Mercy affiliates.

Other roles for Dr. Maine at Mercy have included Executive Vice President of Physician Enterprise, focusing on the growth of its physician network; President of the Medical Staff; Senior Vice President of Clinical Transformation, leading Mercy’s efforts to launch the SurgCenter of Towson; and since 2007, as Medical Director of The Center for Interventional Pain Medicine at Mercy where he is an oft-named Baltimore magazine “Top Doctor.”

The Power 30 Health Care List is one of a series of Power Lists throughout 2021 that showcase the most powerful figures in law, higher education, manufacturing and other fields. It was preceded by The Daily Record’s Power 100 List, which highlighted the most powerful men and women from all fields of endeavor across Maryland.
