Mother-Baby Care at Mercy
The Mother-Baby Unit of The Family Childbirth & Children’s Center at Mercy in Baltimore offers private rooms with panoramic views of Baltimore and focused, family-centered care. Our Unit provides a warm and inviting setting for mothers, fathers, their newborns and visiting family members.
Our patients appreciate our state-of-the-art facility that allows for more visitors, additional security and comfortable rooms equipped with reclining chairs and sleep sofas. We practice couplet care as babies “room in” with mom to facilitate bonding, however, a newborn nursery is always staffed if mom needs to rest.
Our dedicated Mother-Baby team includes obstetricians, registered nurses, nursing support technicians, patient services representatives, certified lactation consultants, social workers and pediatric nurse practitioners, all working in concert to achieve clinical excellence in a family-centered environment of care.

Advanced Technologies to Educate and Communicate with New Moms
Our Mother-Baby Unit provides patient education via an online system of educational videos on topics like infant bathing, breastfeeding and wound incision care.
The Unit also is equipped with PCDs (Personal Communication Devices) so nurses will receive immediate alarms if there is an issue with mom or baby. This allows your nursing team to stay in instant contact with you.
