Chintan A. Desai, M.D., is a Primary Care Doctor and Medical Director of Mercy Personal Physicians Downtown in Baltimore, Maryland. Dr. Desai provides comprehensive first contact and continuing care for patients with acute and chronic illnesses. He serves the residents of Baltimore’s many diverse communities, including Federal Hill, Canton, Fells Point, Baltimore Metro Center and the Mt. Vernon arts and cultural district.

Dr. Chintan Desai diagnoses and treats a multitude of common illnesses and conditions, including the flu, cold, allergies, fever, pains and numerous other non-emergent injuries. Dr. Desai also works with patients and their family members, as well as other health care specialists, to treat chronic and persistent conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes and respiratory problems.

Dr. Chintan Desai was awarded “Resident of the Year” at Flushing Hospital Medical Center in 2003 and again in 2004 at Franklin Square Hospital in recognition of his professional excellence and dedication to his patients. As a primary care physician with Mercy Personal Physicians, Dr. Desai continues to make the health and wellness of his patients his top priority and passion by building long-term relationships and offering first rate, top quality care.

Dr. Desai received his medical education from Government Medical College Surat, Gujarat, India, and is fluent in both Hindi and Gujarati, in addition to English. He completed his Residency in Internal Medicine at Flushing Hospital Medical Center in Flushing, New York, and Franklin Square Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. Dr. Desai is Board Certified in Internal Medicine. He is active in clinical research and volunteer projects.

When he’s not caring for the needs of his patients in Downtown Baltimore, Dr. Desai enjoys reading – specifically the works of author Erich Segal and listening to music, including noted Russian composer, Tchaikovsky. Dr. Desai also enjoys staying active, including playing tennis and biking regularly.
