Thaw Poon, M.D.

Thaw Poon, M.D., provides primary care treatment for adult patients ages 18 and older at Mercy Personal Physicians at Overlea in Eastern Baltimore County. Serving the communities of Carney, Fullerton, Parkville, Perry Hall, and White Marsh, Dr. Poon treats a broad range of adult conditions including diabetes, high blood pressure, cold and flu, and arthritis. He educates his patients on preventive care.

Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Dr. Thaw Poon has years of private practice experience and brings a wealth of knowledge to the treatment of his patients. Dr. Poon held numerous professional and academic positions throughout his medical career, including Attending Physician, Assistant Medical Director and Chief Resident. He is a fellow of the American College of Physicians.  

Teacher, Lecturer, Researcher and Author

Dr. Poon is a knowledgeable teacher, lecturer, researcher and author. He has extensive experience teaching medical students and residents, as well as providing presentations to medical professionals on a variety of topics both in the United States and in Burma. Dr. Thaw Poon has contributed to various research papers and served as a research associate.

Community Involvement

Dr. Poon believes in giving back to the community. In his spare time, he volunteers at a free health clinic, teaches literature and religion to Burmese children, and provides medical education for seniors in Columbia, Maryland.
