Bone Bank for Foot and Ankle Surgery

The surgeons at The Institute for Foot and Ankle Reconstruction at Mercy work with bone banks when bone and cartilage are needed for transplants.

What is a Bone Bank?

A bone bank harvests bone and tissue from a cadaver to provide to surgeons who perform transplants. Bone banks perform rigorous infection control testing on all the grafts prior to releasing for transplantation. If the grafts do not pass infection control standards, the graft will not be released to the surgeon.

The Institute for Foot and Ankle Reconstruction at Mercy includes a top rated team of surgeons who are dedicated to advanced treatments of common and complex foot and ankle disorders.
