X-ray Services at Mercy
Mercy offers patients a range of diagnostic imaging modalities, including on-site X-ray services.
What is an X-ray?
An X-ray uses electromagnetic waves to create a black and white image of the inside of the body. The image can help doctors diagnose a particular condition, such as a broken bone.When are X-rays used?
On-site X-rays may be required to help rule out or confirm a diagnosis. X-rays also may be used to evaluate treatment progress.
X-rays may be used for:
- Cancer diagnosis and management
- Chest/lung infection
- Foot and ankle conditions - fractures, ligament tears, arthritis
- Hip and knee conditions - fractures, ligament tears, arthritis
- Shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand conditions - fractures, ligament tears, arthritis
- Spine conditions - disc herniation, kyphosis, scoliosis, spinal trauma, spondylolisthesis
- Sports injuries or problems
Patients are asked to submit all relevant previous imaging to their physician's office prior to their visit so the imaging can be evaluated by their physician.
Patients who do not have previous X-rays or need additional X-rays to help diagnose a condition may have them taken during their exam or during a visit to a Mercy location.
