CMS 5-Star Overall Hospital Rating — Mercy Medical Center has received a 5-Star Overall Hospital Rating, the highest possible, from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for the quality of care. Mercy is among the top hospitals in the nation to achieve the highest quality rating for their stellar care.

Mercy awarded "A" grade for hospital safety

Leapfrog Hospital Safety - Grade A

Mercy has been awarded an “A” Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade, a national distinction recognizing Mercy’s achievements protecting patients from harm and providing safer health care. Developed under the guidance of a national Expert Panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses up to 27 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign grades to more than 2,700 U.S. acute-care hospitals twice per year. The Hospital Safety Grade’s methodology is peer-reviewed and fully transparent, and the results are free to the public.

America's Best for Orthopedic Surgery - Mercy Medical Center

America's 100 Best - Orthopedic Surgery — Mercy has been named one of America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Orthopedic Surgery by Healthgrades. The award is an indicator of superior clinical outcomes in back and neck surgery, spinal fusion, hip fracture treatment, hip replacement, and total knee replacement. The distinction places Mercy in the top two percent of more than 4,500 hospitals assessed nationwide for its consistent, year-over-year superior clinical performance.

America's Best for Joint Replacement Surgery - Mercy Medical Center

America's 100 Best - Joint Replacement — Mercy has been named one of America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Joint Replacement by Healthgrades. The award is an indicator of superior clinical outcomes in hip replacement as well as knee replacement.

America's 100 Best - Spine Surgery — Mercy has been named one of America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Spine Surgery by Healthgrades. Mercy Medical Center - Baltimore, MD

Gynecologic Surgery Excellence Award — Mercy is the recipient of the Healthgrades Gynecologic Surgery Award for demonstrating superior performance in gynecologic surgery. This award recognizes the top 10 percent of hospitals evaluated that provided outstanding performance in gynecologic surgery, including hysterectomy and surgery related to the female reproductive system.

Blue Distinction Center - Spine Surgery - Mercy

CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield Blue Distinction Center — Mercy has been named a Blue Distinction Center+ for Spine Surgery.

Blue Distinction Centers (BDC) met overall quality measures for patient safety and outcomes, developed with input from the medical community. Blue Distinction Centers + (BDC+) also met cost measures that address consumers’ need for affordable healthcare. Individual outcomes may vary. National criteria is displayed on www.bcbs.com. A Local Blue Plan may require additional criteria for facilities located in its own service area. For details on Local Blue Plan Criteria, a provider’s in-network status, or your own policy’s coverage, contact your Local Blue Plan. Each hospital’s Cost Index is calculated with data from its Local Blue Plan. Hospitals in CA, ID, NY, PA and WA may lie in two Local Blue Plans areas, resulting in two Cost Index figures; and their own Local Blue Plans decide whether one or both Cost Index figures must meet BDC+ national criteria. Neither Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association nor any Blue Plans are responsible for damages or non-covered charges resulting from Blue Distinction or other provider finder information or care received from Blue Distinction or other providers.

Beacon Award for Excellence — The American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN) has named Mercy a gold-level Beacon Award for Excellence recipient for its Critical Care Unit. The Beacon Award for Excellence is a significant milestone on the path to exceptional patient care and healthy work environments, recognizing unit caregivers who successfully improve patient outcomes and align practices with AACN’s six Healthy Work Environment Standards.

Breast Imaging Center of Excellence - Mercy Medical Center

American College of Radiology - Breast Imaging Center of Excellence — The Breast Imaging Center of Excellence designation is awarded to breast imaging centers that achieve excellence by seeking and earning accreditation in all of the ACR’s voluntary breast-imaging accreditation programs and modules.

Commission on Cancer Accreditation - Mercy Medical Center

American College of Surgeons and Commission on Cancer Accreditation — Mercy Medical Center was awarded Full Accreditation. This prestigious accreditation is the seal of approval for cancer programs from the American College of Surgeons and formally acknowledges Mercy’s commitment to providing high-quality cancer care to our community.

College of American Pathologists Accreditation - Mercy Medical Center

College of American Pathologists - Laboratory Accreditation — The College of American Pathologists Laboratory Accreditation Program is an internationally recognized program designed to help laboratories achieve the highest standards of excellence to positively impact patient care.

American College of Radiology - Radiation Oncology Accredited Program

American College of Radiology - Radiation Oncology Practice Accreditation — The Radiation Oncology Practice Accreditation Program provides radiation oncologists with third-party, impartial peer review and evaluation of patient care. The facility’s personnel, equipment, treatment-planning and treatment records as well as patient-safety policies and quality control/quality assessment activities are assessed.

American Academy of Sleep Medicine Accreditation — Mercy's Sleep Center, part of The Lung Center at Mercy, is accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, the only professional society dedicated exclusively to the medical sub-specialty of sleep medicine.

IAC Vascular Testing Accreditation - Mercy

Intersocietal Accreditation Commission Vascular Testing — The Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) accreditation in Vascular Testing is awarded to imaging facilities that demonstrate a high level of patient care and excellence within the discipline.
