Nationally Renowned Gynecologic Oncologist and Surgeon Dr. Neil B. Rosenshein, Named Castle Connolly "Top Doctor"

Mercy Medical Center has announced that nationally recognized gynecologic oncologist and surgeon Dr. Neil B. Rosenshein has been recognized by Castle Connolly Medical Ltd. as a "Top Doctor” for 2016. 

The national selection process for Castle Connolly's "Top Doctors" is based on both peer nomination and extensive review by a physician-led research team. Medical training, board certifications, achievements, and other credentials are also measured during the annual selection process.

A board certified gynecologic oncologist, Neil B. Rosenshein, M.D., FACOG, has devoted his medical career to advancing surgical techniques to treat ovarian, cervical, uterine, endometrial, vulvar and vaginal cancers.

As Director Emeritus, The Neil B. Rosenshein, M.D., Institute for Gynecologic Care at Mercy, The Weinberg Center for Women's Health and Medicine at Mercy, and The Gynecologic Oncology Collaborative, a growing network of gyn-cancer centers throughout Maryland, Dr. Neil Rosenshein's advanced skills and leadership in women's health are renowned. 

Dr. Rosenshein also serves as the Director of The Lya Segall Ovarian Cancer Institute at Mercy, a National Center of Excellence, equipped with advanced technologies and a dedicated team to diagnose and treat all stages of ovarian cancer.  

Dr. Rosenshein is involved in medical research projects keeping his hand in leading edge treatment options for patients. Since 1998, Dr. Rosenshein has conducted one of the region’s most prestigious medical education conferences re: advances in women’s healthcare. In 2003, Dr. Neil Rosenshein served as the primary investigator for a study identifying markers in the blood that may find tumors. 

He has been published in numerous publications (NEJM, JAMA, American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology) and written or co-authored several books through his career including the Manual of Gynecologic Oncology; Surgery in Retroperitoneal Space: An Operative Gynecology Videobook (co-author); Ultrasonic Surgical Techniques for the Pelvic Surgeon (co-author).

Dr. Rosenshein gathered input from his patients to help design the nationally acclaimed Weinberg Center for Women’s Health and Medicine which opened in 2003. His vision to create the first center in Maryland designed solely for the diagnosis and treatment of ovarian cancer patients, The Lya Segall Ovarian Cancer Institute opened September 2014. This achievement was made possible by a contribution of a grateful patient and family that wanted everyone to receive the same unparalleled care they had received from Dr. Rosenshein.
