The coronavirus has disrupted immunization programs worldwide, but doctors warn it's important to make sure your children are vaccinated.

According to board certified pediatrician Dr. Ashanti Woods of Mercy Family Care Physicians, as the lockdowns were happening, people were not getting out for these routine appointments. Then, many parents were concerned about bringing their young children to facilities because of risk exposure.

“What's going to happen is as coronavirus dies down, as cases trend downward, the state and the country's going to re-open. With that there's going to be travel. We want children to be vaccinated against those common childhood illnesses, such as measles, polio, pertussis,” Dr. Woods said.

If you are still uneasy, contact your doctor's office about their procedures for making it safe to come to their offices.
