A new study validates a belief that breast milk is a better option for infants.

According to Mercy lactation consultant Deedee Franke, RN,BSN, IBCLC,  it's also more proof about the long-term benefit of exercise. Walking can increase the nutritional components of breast milk.

"It increases this oligosaccharide, which is a milk sugar that's only made in breast milk. It increases it up, and that has been shown to create some immune, long-term benefits for the baby," Franke said.

Walking does not increase the amount of breast milk, it simply changes the composition in a positive way.
