Mercy Medical Center Recognized Among Best Hospitals in the Nation

Mercy Medical Center has achieved the Healthgrades 2020 America’s 250 Best Hospitals Award, a distinction that places the hospital in the top 5 percent of more than 4,500 hospitals assessed nationwide for superior clinical performance.

As a “Best Hospital” awardee, Mercy is recognized for overall clinical excellence across 32 conditions and procedures, including heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia, respiratory failure, sepsis and stroke. Overall, patients treated in hospitals named as America’s Best Hospitals™ have, on average, a 26.6 percent lower risk of dying than if they were treated in hospitals that did not receive this award.

In addition to this honor, Mercy most recently received a 5-Star Overall Hospital Rating, the highest possible, from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for quality of care. Mercy is among the top hospitals in the nation to achieve the highest quality rating for their stellar care.

Mercy has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Hospitals” ranking for 2019-2020, named “High Performing” in Geriatrics (Nationally, Adult Specialties) and in both Hip Replacement and Knee Replacement (Common Adult Procedure and Condition Ratings). Mercy is also is among only 8 percent of healthcare organizations across the country to earn Magnet® status, the highest level of recognition for nursing services.

Mercy was recently ranked as one of the top midsize employers in the nation by Forbes magazine for the third consecutive year. Mercy Medical Center has been awarded an “A” from The Leapfrog Group’s spring 2019 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade, ranking it among the safest hospitals in the U.S.
