George: A Meaningful Run

George: A Meaningful Run

On Sept. 11, 2016, ultra-marathoner George Chmiel began his 3,000 mile cross-country run from aboard the USS Midway in San Diego, CA to Ground Zero in New York City to raise funds and awareness for the Guardian for Heroes Foundation, an organization founded by “American Sniper” Chris Kyle. Chmiel is the veteran of ankle surgery performed by orthopedic surgeon Dr. John Campbell of The Institute for Foot & Ankle Reconstruction at Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore. An Annapolis native, Chmiel visited with Dr. Campbell as he made his way through Maryland on his way to New York.
