January 10, 2025
Craig Vander Kolk, M.D., director of Cosmetic Medicine and Surgery at Mercy and associate director of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at Mercy, and Brendan Collins, M.D., a specialist in breast reconstruction, cosmetic medicine and plastic surgery, appear as guests of Mercy Medical Center’s ongoing talk show series, Medoscopy, airing on Facebook Watch, Wed.–Thurs., Jan. 22nd and 23rd, 2025, at 5:30 p.m. EST.
A 30-minute, pre-taped program that explores the background and lives of Mercy clinicians, patients and others, Medoscopy was launched in spring 2022 and airs in two 15-minute segments. To view past episodes, visit the Medoscopy playlist on the Mercy Medical Center YouTube channel.
In this latest installment, Dr. Vander Kolk discusses his time in Australia, where he performed his fellowship in hand and microvascular surgery at St. Vincent’s Hospital; his Dutch ancestry and visit to the Netherlands; and his work with Camp Face, a weeklong summer camp for children and teens with cleft lip and other craniofacial anomalies.
Dr. Collins mentioned his early years growing up in Bernardsville, New Jersey as the oldest of five children; how a family friend who was a general surgeon sparked his interest in becoming a doctor; and his time working at Beaumont Hospital, a large teaching medical facility in Dublin, Ireland.
Dr. Craig Vander Kolk is among a limited group of surgeons providing highly specialized surgical services. He offers unique skill in treating embouchure injury for musicians who play brass instruments. He also is a widely recognized pediatric plastic surgeon specializing in the reconstruction of cleft lip and palate in children.
Dr. Collins has been recognized as a “Top Doctor” in the Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery category by Baltimore magazine; among America’s Most Compassionate Doctors through the Patients’ Choice recognition program; and noted for Best Cosmetic Surgery through the Maryland Gazette Readers' Choice awards.
Medoscopy is filmed on the campus of Mercy Medical Center in downtown Baltimore with video, sound and lighting by Zinnia Film.
