Dr. Gregory Mendez is a Fellowship-trained, orthopedic surgeon with Orthopedics and Joint Replacement at Mercy Medical Center, a division of The Orthopedic Specialty Hospital. Dr. Mendez sees patients at Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland as well as several Mercy Community Physician Sites around the Baltimore Beltway.

Dr. Gregory Mendez specializes in hip and knee joint preservation and replacement. He sees patients for common and complex conditions, disorders and injuries. These include acute conditions such as ligament tears and fractures, as well as chronic conditions including osteoarthritis.

Minimally Invasive Joint Replacement

In addition to conservative approaches and treatment, such as injections and physical therapy, Dr. Mendez may recommend surgical procedures for joint revision or replacement. He relies on minimally invasive techniques including partial knee resurfacing and total knee replacement utilizing Mako Robotic-Arm Assisted Technology. The technology allows for a more precise and consistent outcome for patients experiencing knee pain. Dr. Mendez also performs minimally invasive anterior approach hip replacement, which typically provides a faster recovery, less restrictions and less pain compared to traditional hip replacement surgery.

Dr. Mendez has served as an orthopedic clinical researcher in a variety of roles, published numerous peer-reviewed research articles, and presented several posters and oral presentations. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons.
