Core Faculty & Leadership
The internal medicine inpatient services are led by a core group of full-time hospitalists with clinical faculty appointments at the University of Maryland School of Medicine.
Subspecialty consultative services are performed by an exceptional group of on-campus physicians. Faculty supervision is direct and collaborative in a warm, community hospital setting. Internal medicine and subspecialty physicians contribute to the didactic conference schedule within the framework of a general internal medicine curriculum.
Meet Our Faculty
Albert Han, M.D.
Residency Program Director
Albert J. Han, M.D., serves as Program Director for the Preliminary Internal Medicine Residency Program at Mercy Medical Center. Dr. Han has a strong interest in medical education, including clinical decision making, clinical epidemiology and interactive learning.
Dr. Han serves as a hospitalist and teaching attending on the inpatient medical services.
Dr. Han is a graduate of the University of Maryland School of Medicine and he completed his residency training in internal medicine at the Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.
Andrea Limpuangthip, M.D.
Associate Program Director
Medical Director, Quality and Patient Safety
Andrea Limpuangthip, M.D., serves as Medical Director of Quality and Patient Safety at Mercy Medical Center. She enjoys teaching and working with the internal medicine residents and medical students while attending on the inpatient medical services.
Dr. Limpuangthip is a graduate of the University of Maryland School of Medicine. She completed her Residency training in Internal Medicine at the University of Maryland Medical Center. She completed her Chief Residency at Mercy Medical Center and University of Maryland Medical Center and now serves as Associate Program Director at Mercy Medical Center.
George M. Boyer, M.D.
Chair, Department of Medicine
George M. Boyer, M.D., serves as Medical Director, Pulmonary Function Laboratory, and Chair of The Department of Medicine at Mercy in Baltimore, Maryland. Dr. Boyer’s extensive medical career at Mercy includes teaching students and residents from University of Maryland School of Medicine and Mercy Medical Center where he is the recipient of several Outstanding Physician Teacher Awards.
Dr. Boyer also is a pulmonologist at The Lung Center at Mercy, where he and his colleagues provide state-of-the-art care for lung disorders such as COPD, lung cancer and interstitial lung disease and sleep disorders. Dr. Boyer is Board Certified in Pulmonary Disease Medicine and Internal Medicine. Dr. Boyer’s interests include obstructive airways disease, high altitude illness and diving medicine.
Wilma Rowe, M.D.

Senior Vice President, Medical Affairs
Wilma Rowe, M.D., serves as Chief Medical Officer/Senior Vice President of Medical Affairs at Mercy Medical Center. As the immediate past program director, Dr. Rowe remains a major contributor to the program planning and oversight.
Dr. Rowe also continues to serve as a hospitalist and teaching attending for inpatient medical services.
Dr. Rowe is a graduate of the George Washington University School of Medicine and she completed her residency training in internal medicine at the University of Maryland Medical Center.
Cydney Nguyen, M.D.
Chief Resident
Cydney Nguyen, M.D., serves as Chief Resident for the Preliminary Internal Medicine Residency Program at Mercy Medical Center. She has an interest in teaching internal medicine residents and medical students, and hopes to continue working with medical education throughout her career.
Dr. Nguyen is a graduate of the University of Maryland School of Medicine. She completed her Residency training in Internal Medicine at the University of Maryland Medical Center. She is currently serving as a Chief Resident at Mercy Medical Center and the University of Maryland Medical Center.
