Your Nurse Navigator - Your Personal Advocate

At The Ovarian Cancer Institute, it is the nurse navigator's role to remove obstacles and barriers wherever possible. Our navigator will guide you through the treatment process and assist with practical issues such as transportation, healthcare coverage, financial concerns and family needs that may arise. If you have questions, trust our professionals to help you find answers and coordinate the services you need. 

Technology to Determine the Best Treatments Options for Ovarian Cancer and Ovarian Cysts

The Institute’s state-of-the-art suite masterfully blends technology and integrated medical services to give our surgeons and their patients state-of-the-art access to the information, data and diagnostic tools needed to determine the best treatment options available.

Some of the featured technological highlights of our program include:

  • Advanced Technology – clinical imaging allowing side-by-side real-time comparison of ovarian cysts, masses and tumors, as well as physician telestrator capabilities to diagram and analyze onscreen images
  • Suite-wide Touchscreen Access – allowing multi-media integration to enhance patient comfort and education, including access to e-records, screening and test results, patient education materials as well as surgical notes and documentation
  • On-site Ultrasound Screenings – without leaving the suite, this valuable diagnostic tool is used to determine and evaluate an ovarian cyst, mass or tumor
  • e-Care – a wide variety of electronic services designed to enhance our state-of-the-art care, ranging from the MyChart electronic medical record to e-glass which provides exclusivity and patient privacy during confidential conversations

From your first appointment at The Ovarian Cancer Institute to your return trip home, you will discover our personal concierge staff offers guidance, resources and coordination of care to make your appointments, visits and stay at Mercy flow effortlessly from one phase of care to the next. Some of our patients may require assistance arranging hotel and/or travel accommodations, while others look to our personal concierge team to coordinate appointments with our dietitian, genetics counselor and survivor support groups.

Spirituality Support

Our concierge staff also works closely with Pastoral Care to ensure the spiritual and emotional needs of our patients are addressed. In the spirit of the Sisters of Mercy, we offer counseling, prayer, and support from clergy and leaders from all walks of faith.

Research and Survivorship - Promising Indicators of New Advances

Research studies and clinical trials are key tools our ovarian cancer doctors hope will one day identify screenings or treatments that may reduce the risk of ovarian cancer. Mercy is a participant in the first clinical study in the U.S. to evaluate the use of Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy to treat ovarian cancer.
