There are habits that may increase your cancer risk.

Some of the more obvious habits include smoking, alcohol consumption and lack of exercise. Dr. Debashish Bose, medical director of surgical oncology at Mercy Medical Center, says there are others.

"Our consumption of red meats and processed meats - we're talking about meats that contain chemicals in them and a lot of cured meats that contain sulfites - are foods that increase our cancer risk," Dr. Bose said.

According to Dr. Bose, those meats can include salami, bacon and anything that is smoked.

Dr. Bose actively participates in research and has been the recipient of the Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award (NRSA). He has served as Principle Investigator in studies related to pancreatic cancer.

Dr. Bose's clinical interests include minimally invasive surgery for pancreatic and liver cancer, neuroendocrine tumors, metastatic colon cancer and gastric cancer.
