The Neurology Center at Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore offers physician expertise for the treatment of a wide spectrum of neurological disorders and neuromuscular conditions.

Our experienced neurologists, Medical Director Dr. Bonnie Gerecke, Dr. James Bernheimer, Dr. Mark Fehr, Dr. Jason Rosenberg and Dr. Howie Zheng, are highly regarded specialists in the Baltimore region and offer a number advanced diagnostic services to aid in diagnosis and treatment.

What is Neurology?

Neurology is an area of medicine that concentrates on the diagnosis and treatment of disorders and diseases of the nervous system such as the brain, spinal cord and peripheral nerves. Many neurological conditions have basic common symptoms which may include headaches, loss of balance, memory loss, numbness in an extremity, weakness, tremors, rigid muscles, gait instability or trouble walking.

Our physician team includes Board Certified neurologists who work closely with referring physicians as well as a multidisciplinary team of doctors at Mercy, including interventional pain medicine specialists, neurosurgeons, orthopedic surgeons, radiologists, vascular surgeons and rehabilitative specialists. Our doctors are committed to developing individualized treatment plans, addressing each patient’s needs.

Offering Advanced Diagnostic Services

Our neurologists work in collaboration with their patients and focus on prevention, early detection and consistent management of neurological disease. Patients benefit from our doctors’ specialized training on a variety of neurological diagnostic tools including EMG (Electromyography) and EEG (Electroencephalography). These technologies can provide a better understanding of the underlying cause of a series of symptoms and allow for a more complete treatment plan.

Our EMG labs at Mercy, Glen Burnie and Lutherville are Accredited with Exemplary Status by the American Association of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine.
