Mercy Medical Center was founded in 1874 by six Sisters of Mercy as an independent community teaching hospital. In the nearly 150 years since, Mercy has evolved to become one of the region’s premiere healthcare providers.
While Mercy has grown and changed over time, we have always remained steadfast in our commitment to provide whole-person care with warmth, dignity and compassion. That’s the Mercy way.
Below are the inspiring stories of our founder and a few of the donors who have been catalysts in Mercy’s evolution. We hope these stories give you a sense of the critical role philanthropy has played in shaping Mercy into the institution of excellence it is today.
